The Red Devils looked to have secured a huge three points after Alejandro Garnacho's double and Bruno Fernandes' header, which appeared to have cancelled out Palmer's penalty and Conor Gallagher's opener, but a second spot kick in the 100th-minute and a 101st-minute winner completed a dramatic win. After the match, an almost disbelieving Palmer tried to sum up his feelings.

"I don't know [how Chelsea came back]," he told . "[We were] 2-0 up and like I said last week we had silly mistakes. When the eight minutes got added on it gave us a lift – madness. We need to try to win as many games as possible. To win like that, there is nothing better. We thought when we scored the second goal the fans lifted us and I saw the gaffer say there were two minutes left and thankfully I scored."

He added: "You know I have taken many penalties, I am not going to miss a penalty, touch wood. To score on the last minute is crazy."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Palmer has arguably been one of the signings of the season after scoring his 19th goal of the campaign following his move from Manchester City last summer. He also has eight assists to his name – more than any of his team-mates.
