Guardiola admits that Phillips is not going to be playing regularly for City this season and says he "struggles" to see the England international in his side. Phillips remains a member of Gareth Southgate's England squad, winning 31 caps for his country, but a lack of minutes between now and the end of the season may see him fall out of contention ahead of Euro 2024. As a result, he has been linked with a potential move to Juventus in Serie A.

WHAT PEP GUARDIOLA SAID

Speaking ahead of City's fixture against Luton Town this weekend, Guardiola told reporters: "I don’t know what will happen to Kalvin Phillips. He has good character, I’m so sorry I have not picked him. I visualise my team and select a team and I struggle to see him."

One has to think that he desperately needs a move. He is well behind Rodri in the pecking order at City, and needs to keep playing if he is to be involved at the European Championships next summer.
